With the support of Nick Simon Institute (NSI), Jayanti Memorial Trust has been conducting Continuing Medical Education (CME) in Pokhara for the past three years. Likewise, this year too, in collaboration with NSI, we were able to conduct the workshop on “Fundamental of Cardiology and Screening of Valvular Disease” for the medical officers. The main objective of this program was to provide a medical training and education to the medical officers from the diverse geographical region. The whole medical conference was planned in accordance with the level of technical expertise possessed by the medical officers attending the program and the level of technical facility available at the Hospital where they practice.
This year, the CME was held at Fewa Resort, Pokhara on the 24th and 25th of February 2018.The speakers for the workshop were the senior cardiologists and surgeon from Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara and Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre, Kathmandu. The doctors helped the participants revise and also understand the basic concepts of cardiology, screening, and intervention. Not only did they focus on cardiology and its concepts but the participants were also informed about various schemes, organizations, and programs available for cardiac patients all over the country. The intent behind this was to help the patients in their districts avail such facilities.

EVALUATION OF THE FEEDBACK FORMS
Overall, the two days workshop received constructive feedback from the participants. An evaluated paragraphed brief of the feedback forms filled out by the participants helps us understand their point of view on the competencies and inadequacies of the workshop. According to the participants, the workshop was helpful in a way that it allowed them to learn about the basic diagnosis of cardiac ailments and it also provided them with an opportunity to revise what was learned beforehand. It also enabled them to assimilate the concepts of heart diseases and the basic rules followed to identify a cardiac patient. The participants were also able to grasp the process of screening congenital heart diseases, valvular heart diseases, and birth abnormalities.
