Mugu is one of the most remote and the least developed districts located in the North-West of Nepal, in the Karnali region. It is extremely mountainous and is accessed by only mud tracks and airways. Rara, the biggest lake in Nepal, also lies here in Mugu district. The lake is of the beautiful destination to be visited in Nepal. About the health services particularly the cardiac care in Mugu District, the health care is extremely poor consequently the local faces significant inaccessibility to necessary and basic health services.
Yet again, Jayanti Memorial Trust with MCVTC conducted a two-day cardiac camp at Mugu and Prof. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala led the camp with the aim to bridge the gap of the addressed problem regarding inaccessible to proper health services in Mugu. The whole team walked for an hour to a campsite. The cardiac camps in such a remotest area and reaching out to the necessitous patients proved to be beneficial to the community. In total, the team screened 451 patients in two days. Similar to the check practice and procedure conducted in previous camps, the patients were first checked for the Blood pressure measurement and then sent for doctor’s consultation. Free ECG and ECHO test were conducted on patients referred by the doctors and were provided the consultations and referral accordingly. The patients were also provided with both cardiac and non-cardiac prescribed medicines.
